How a night runs ▾
Same rhythm every night. Once you've done it twice it's second nature.
Arrive in all black Cast call time: 4:00 PM. Support staff call time : 6:00 PM
Black top, black pants, closed-toe shoes you can move in. This is your base layer — everything else goes over it.
Check in and confirm your placement
Check in as soon as you arrive; this is how your night gets recorded. You'll find out your room and your role for the night.
Costume
You'll leave an item of value — keys, phone, ID — to check out your costume, and get it back when the costume comes back. Lockers are available; bring your own lock.
Makeup
Our makeup team gets you into character. Come with a clean face. Tell them about any allergies or skin sensitivities before they start.
Break room until showtime
Games, snacks, and somewhere to sit. Many of our cast members knock out homework in here before doors. Use the time however you want — just don't leave the property in makeup and costume.
Pro tip: don't leave anything in the break room. Everything goes in your locker.

Pump-up, then doors
The whole cast gets together right before we open. Notes, energy, then everyone goes to their room. Doors at 7:00 PM.
Mid-show break
Everyone gets a break partway through the night. Water, sit down, and catch your breath. Take it — acting for 3-4 hours is harder than it sounds.
Release, costumes back, pizza
Then the actor manager releases everyone at the end — don't leave before that, only when an actor or stage manager releases you; it's what makes the night count as a full show. Return your costume, get your item back, and eat. There's pizza every night we're open.
What to wear & bring ▾
Wear
All-black outfit from head to toe: black top, black pants or shorts, and comfortable closed-toe shoes or boots suitable for movement. Choose lightweight, moisture-wicking fabric that provides coverage. Remember, you're on your feet and active all night. This forms your base layer, with your costume layered over it. Arrive with a clean face for proper makeup application..
Pro tip: a cheap pair of gel insoles is the best money you'll spend all season — three hours on concrete adds up fast.

Bring
A padlock for your locker, a water bottle, your ID, and anything you'll want on break. You'll hand over one item of value to check out your costume.
Skip
Strong scents, jewelry that can catch or get lost, and anything you'd be upset to get fake blood on. It happens.
Where to park ▾
Training days — Sept 5 & Sept 12
Park in our lot or the doctor's office lot next door. Traffic controllers will be out to direct you.
Show nights & Friends & Family Night
Park on 110th Street. The lot stays clear for guests. You'll need a parking permit on your dash — we hand them out on site, and you can print a replacement if you lose yours.
Pay ▾
What decides your pay
Check in every night — before you do anything else.Work two full shows — the minimum to be eligible for payment.
Stay to the release — leaving early means the night doesn't count.
Work hard and be reliable — we review every pay period and give raises based on it.
Returning from last year?
Before the first payday, open your Square Team app and make sure your address and direct deposit info are current. Out-of-date info is the number one reason a check gets delayed.
Paydays
Checks release October 9, October 23, and November 6.
Ways to earn more
4-hour show nights pay more than 3-hour nights — there are eight this season. Halloween night carries a +$15 incentive. Performing in a mask adds +$5 a night.
Taxes
You're an independent contractor, so taxes aren't withheld. If you earn more than $2,000 this season, you'll receive and file a 1099.
The rules that matter most ▾
The full code is in your handbook. These are the ones that keep you on the schedule.
Show up, on time, every time.
Late or can't make it? Tell a lead right away — use the call-off form. Reliability is your most important quality.
Stay in Character until you're off the floor.
If a guest can see you, you're in character. Also, act for all staff members and managers. This is how we can see your act in the moment and give you tips and training.
We don't touch guests. They don't touch us.
Keep your distance, use only approved props, and never grab or block. If a guest touches you, disengage and radio leadership.
No phones on the floor.
None. Your attention belongs to the guests in front of you. For medical or certain situations, get it cleared by leadership.
No substances before or during your shift.
Zero tolerance — you're in a high-risk space with guests in your care.
Support scares, don't steal them.
A great section is built together. Back up your castmates. Don't steal scares.
Stay to the release.
The stage manager releases everyone at the end. Leaving early means the night doesn't count.
Safety concerns go to your lead — not guests.
See something off? Tell your zone leader immediately or use the form
Keep it positive where it can be heard.
No trashing the haunt or other haunts, management, or castmates within earshot of guests or staff members.
Know your exits in the dark.
Every night, every zone. Safety first, always.
Safety basics ▾
Safety is part of the show. A scared guest is the goal; a safe guest is the rule. Never handle a problem yourself — radio a lead.
Know your exits
Learn your zone's emergency exits so you could find them in total darkness.
If a guest gets physical
Disengage immediately, step back, and move to a safe spot in the egress — every zone has one. Radio security and leadership. Never handle a confrontation alone.
If a guest touches you
Call "Code Yellow" over the radio with your location, description, and what happened. A lead steps in and handles the group.
Emergencies
We use radio codes for fire, medical, and broken props — your leads walk through the full list at training. If you hear one, follow your lead's direction and head for your nearest exit.
Report a concern
Anything unsafe, or something that doesn't sit right — tell a lead, or use the confidential concern form. Anonymous option, no retaliation.
